If you are worried about your online privacy then we have tried to collate a list of tools which will help limit the amount of information that is given out. The tools in this list are not just limited to privacy, but also offer a degree of security protection and also minimise (or remove) annoying content like advertisments.

HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox, Chrome, and Opera extension that encrypts your communications with many major websites, making your browsing more secure. HTTPS Everywhere is produced as a collaboration between The Tor Project and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
The Tor Project
Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against traffic analysis, a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security.
If you are using firefox then you can install the NoScript plugin to disable WebRTC in your browser. This will stop sites from being able to access your private ip addresses information. There is currently no known plugin for Chrome.
NoScript / ScriptSafe
If you are using firefox then you can install the NoScript plugin which offers control over active content to run only from sites you trust, and protect yourself against XSS and Clickjacking attacks. Google Chrome has a similiar plugin called ScriptSafe.
If you are using firefox then you can install the Request policy plugin which allows you to be in control of which cross-site requests are allowed. Improve the privacy of your browsing by not letting other sites know your browsing habits. Secure yourself from Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) and other attacks. We are not aware of a similiar plugin for Google Chrome.
If you are using firefox then you can install the Redirect cleaner plugin which allows you cleans redirects from links which stops people from tracking where you have come from and how you got to their site. We are not aware of a similiar plugin for Google Chrome.
If you are using firefox then you can install the AdBlock Plus plugin which blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable). This plugin is also available for Google Chrome here.
Ghostery shows you the invisible web - cookies, tags, web bugs, pixels and beacons and gives you a roll-call of over 1,900 ad networks, behavioral data providers, web publishers and other companies interested in your activity.
We are not going to list a specific plugin for cookie blocking as often this can be done within your web browser configuration, there are also a number of plugins available for most browsers should you want to do more.
